We have all seen the moves toward outright dictatorship in recent years. The PATRIOT Act, the warrantless spying, rendition and torture, the NDAA…But some still refuse to see the police state forest for the individual trees. Join us tonight on Corbett Report Radio as we dip into the Corbett Report archives to uncover some of the many stories that add up to a present tense police state…and what we can do about it.

Homeland Security Monitors Journalists

Source: RT

Freedom of speech might allow journalists to get away with a lot in America, but the Department of Homeland Security is on the ready to make sure that the government is keeping dibs on who is saying what.

Under the National Operations Center (NOC)’s Media Monitoring Initiative that came out of DHS headquarters in November, Washington has the written permission to retain data on users of social media and online networking platforms.

Specifically, the DHS announced the NCO and its Office of Operations Coordination and Planning (OPS) can collect personal information from news anchors, journalists, reporters or anyone who may use “traditional and/or social media in real time to keep their audience situationally aware and informed.”

According to the Department of Homeland Security’s own definition of personal identifiable information, or PII, such data could consist of any intellect “that permits the identity of an individual to be directly or indirectly inferred, including any information which is linked or linkable to that individual.” Previously established guidelines within the administration say that data could only be collected under authorization set forth by written code, but the new provisions in the NOC’s write-up means that any reporter, whether someone along the lines of Walter Cronkite or a budding blogger, can be victimized by the agency.

Also included in the roster of those subjected to the spying are government officials, domestic or not, who make public statements, private sector employees that do the same and “persons known to have been involved in major crimes of Homeland Security interest,” which to itself opens up the possibilities even wider.

The department says that they will only scour publically-made info available while retaining data, but it doesn’t help but raise suspicion as to why the government is going out of their way to spend time, money and resources on watching over those that helped bring news to the masses.

The development out of the DHS comes at the same time that U.S. District Judge Liam O’Grady denied pleas from supporters of WikiLeaks who had tried to prevent account information pertaining to their Twitter accounts from being provided to federal prosecutors. Jacob Applebaum and others advocates of Julian Assange’s whistleblower site were fighting to keep the government from subpoenaing information on their personal accounts that were collected from Twitter.

Last month the Boston Police Department and the Suffolk Massachusetts District Attorney subpoenaed Twitter over details pertaining to recent tweets involving the Occupy Boston protests.

The website Fast Company reports that the intel collected by the Department of Homeland Security under the NOC Monitoring Initiative has been happening since as early as 2010 and the data is being shared with both private sector businesses and international third parties.

Obama Administration Gives Birth To New Agents of Tyranny: The Bureau of Counterterrorism

Apparently having goons grope the public nearly every step of the way as they walk under the watchful eyes of full-spectrum surveillance just isn't good enough.

The new Bureau of Counterterrorism was announced on January 4th by Obama's State Department as an agency with,
The mission . . . to lead the [State] Department in the U.S. Government’s effort to counter terrorism abroad and to secure the United States against foreign terrorist threats. The bureau will lead in supporting U.S. counterterrorism diplomacy and seek to strengthen homeland security, countering violent extremism, and build the capacity of partner nations to deal effectively with terrorism. (Source)
Probably the least comforting part of this announcement is the use of the term "violent extremism."  It is under this very flexible definition which allows the agents of tyranny to assign it to anyone, at any time, thus making them susceptible to the full arsenal of the War on Terror, which we now know includes the indefinite detention and torture of American citizens on American soil.

The idea that security actually needs to be further strengthened by a new bureau in addition to the CIA, TSA, Homeland Security, the FBI, NSA and every other alphabet agency ignoring the Constitution is a clear sign that the U.S. government is done with even pretending to listen to its own citizens, or those around the world who are subjected to dehumanization while traveling within U.S. borders, as well as when they return home.

In reality this bureau is not new at all; it was similarly established in 1996 . . . in Israel.  It, too, received an "upgrade" similar to what the Obama administration is now proposing.  The U.S. bureau had operated on a previously smaller scale in America, but one look at the newly released fact sheet demonstrates its expanded role for the future.  It is worth reading in full, as it speaks for itself, but we should pay particular attention to the mention of "ideologies" and "ideas," as well as "international cooperation." So what are you thinking?

Music: Erosion by Vibrasphere

Footage taken from the fantastic documentary on Nikola Tesla by PBS. "Nikola Tesla - Master of Lightning"

Tesla tranformed our civilization, giving rise to billion dollar corporations, yet he himself died in poverty, forgotten in a New York hotel room. For someone who gave so much to be rewarded with so much obscurity is absolutely criminal. Please share this video with others as a tribute to Tesla's legacy.

Giant Foot Print 200 Million Years Old - South Africa

Source: MichaelTellinger

Michael Tellinger shows off what could be one of the best pieces of evidence that there were giants on Earth a long, long time ago. Geologists have marvelled at this giant foot print in rough granite, about 4 feet long. Some still say that it is a natural erosion pattern.

Personally I find that suggestion highy improbable for various reasons that I will not go into here. Prof. Pieter Wagener from UPE, suggests that "there is a higher probability of little green men arriving from space and licking it out with their tongues, than being created by natural erosion".

It is located in South Africa, near the town of Mpaluzi, close to the Swaziland border. It is estimated to be between 200 million and 3 Billion years old because of our current understanding of the formation of granite in Earth's history. This dating immediately causes great debate and argument - so I urge you to keep your mind open and focused on the evidence.

This amazing footprint in granite was discovered in 1912 by a hunter called Stoffel Coetzee, while hunting in the remote area. At the time this was a deeply remote part of South Africa known as the Eastern Transvaal, teeming with wild life, including antelope and lions. It remains in the same condition as it was when first discovered and the possibility that this was a carved hoax is extremely low because of its remote location. Even today, it is difficult to find.

The real mystery is how this amazing phenomenon occured - I have no idea - but here it is and we cannot wish it away.

YES - It is granite - it is a well recognised geological part of South Africa and recorded on all geological maps - that is why this footprint is such an incredible mystery. It can be desribed as a "phenocrystic" granite, OR coarse porphyritic granite, that underwent several different stages of cooling. The result being an interesting mixture of large and small granules. This is why granite companies are keen to mine this area for granite because it will look really "pretty" when polished. In the official Geology Of South Africa, this outcrop is called Mpuluzi Batholith (Granite) and the official dating of this rock produced dates of around 3.1 billion years.

A real mystery that needs close scientific examination.

X-37B Spaceplane 'Spying On China'

X-37B – American military spaceplane

Mission: Described as a re-usable testbed for new sensors and other space technologies
  • Length: 9m (29ft); Wingspan: 4.5m (14ft); Height: 3m (9.5ft); Mass: 5t (11,000lb)
  • Origins: Started as a Nasa project in 1999 before being handed to the military in 2006
  • Flight history: First vehicle launched in April, 2010, and landed eight months later
  • Cost: The budget line for the X-37B programme continues to be classified information
America’s classified X-37B spaceplane is probably spying on China, according to a report in Spaceflight magazine.
The unpiloted vehicle was launched into orbit by the US Air Force in March last year and has yet to return to Earth.

The Pentagon has steadfastly refused to discuss its mission but amateur space trackers have noted how its path around the globe is nearly identical to China’s spacelab, Tiangong-1.

There is wide speculation that the X-37B is eavesdropping on the laboratory.

“Space-to-space surveillance is a whole new ball game made possible by a finessed group of sensors and sensor suites, which we think the X-37B may be using to maintain a close watch on China’s nascent space station,” said Spaceflight editor Dr David Baker.

The X-37B, also known as the Orbital Test Vehicle (OTV), looks like a mini space shuttle and can glide back down through the atmosphere to land on a runway, just like Nasa’s re-usable manned spaceplane used to do before its retirement last July.

Built by Boeing, the Air Force’s robotic craft is about 9m long and has a payload bay volume similar to that of a small van. But what goes in the payload bay, the USAF will not discuss.

The current mission was launched on an Atlas rocket and put into a low orbit, a little over 300km up, with an inclination of 42.79 degrees with respect to the equator – an unusual profile for a US military mission which would normally go into an orbit that circles the poles.

The X-37B’s flight has since been followed from the ground by a dedicated group of optical tracking specialists in the US and Europe, intrigued by what the vehicle may be doing.

These individuals have watched how closely its orbit matches that of Tiangong.

The spacelab, which China expects to man with astronauts in 2012, was launched in September with an inclination of 42.78 degrees, and to a very similar altitude as the OTV.

”The parallels with X-37B are clear,” Dr Baker says in Spaceflight, the long established magazine of the British Interplanetary Society.

Pentagon Created Arab Spring Over A Decade Ago

The Arab Spring uprisings were arguably the most significant events of the last 12 months. Protests are still raging across the region, even after regimes were toppled. Journalist and author F. William Engdahl gives his view on the Arab world in 2012.

Editor's Note: William Engdahl breaks down the Arab Spring with absolute precision. For a documented history of the engineered 2011 Arab Spring, please see, "2011 - Year of the Dupe." For more research and analysis by Engdahl, see his website Geopolitics-Geoeconomics.
